Blood chemistry analysis is done by automated machines. Automated biochemistry analysers, blood gas analyzer, electrolyte analyzer, chemiluminescence’s assays and ELISA cater.
The Biochemistry section of the laboratory is backed by highly qualified and motivated technical staff and is well equipped with latest state-of-the-art technologies. Routine and specialized biochemical tests such as tumour markers, therapeutic drug monitoring and hormone assays are done to complete biochemical and serological work-up of OPD, indoor / intensive care patients. The turn around time is as per the international standards.
We have Hitachi – 902, a fully automated random access autoanalyser which utilizes ion selective electrodes, for spectrophotometric analysis of various analytes. There are two types of photometric assays (end point and rate) on these instruments for assaying parameters such as glucose and parameters for kidney and liver function and risk factors for coronary artery disease. Other equipment includes Nova Phox-Blood Gas analyzer, Easylyte 001383-001R1, Electrolyte analyzer, and Erba Chem-7 semiautomated analyzer. Using these systems, biochemical analysis are being done within a very short period of time, requiring minimum sample volume.
Special emphasis is being given on daily quality checks i.e. Internal Quality Control as well as External Quality Control Standards, by participating in International and National Quality Controls Programmes run by Biorad laboratories USA and CMC, Vellore respectively. The Quality control standards are maintained as per WHO recommendations. The reagents kits used for various analysis are FDA approved.
