Visitation Policies

  1. Age of visitors: Visiting children must be over 12, except on obstetric floors, where siblings under 12 may visit with adult supervision. Exceptions can be made to have a patient's own children.

  2. Visitors’ health: Any visitor exposed to or having a communicable disease (tuberculosis, measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, impetigo, the flu or a cold) should not visit patients.

  3. Number of visitors: It is usually best to limit visitors to two at a time, to respect the comfort of all our patients. We encourage families to discuss scheduling their visits, in order not to overwhelm the patient by visiting all at one time. While support from loved ones is important, we also ask that visitors respect the patient's need for rest during their recovery. Discuss any unusual visiting circumstances with the patient's nurse, so that the health care team might accommodate any special arrangements based on the patient's specific situation. Visitors are recognized as an important part of your day but your care is the first and most important concern of Dharamshila Hospital. In the interest of your safety, hygiene and comfort visiting is restricted to certain times.

  4. Recommended visiting time is twenty minutes and no more than two persons should visit you at any one time.

  1. Support person: The hospital recognizes the health benefits provided by the presence of loved ones while patients are in the hospital. We welcome one designated family member or support person to stay with the patient at any time. This designated support person's visits would only be limited by the patient's need for medical care or treatments, rest, privacy, and patient preference, including the roommate's preference.

  2. No smoking: Visitors are not permitted to smoke while on hospital property.

  3. Restricted cell phone use: Cellular phones may not be used within six feet of any electronic patient care equipment.

  1. No Flowers: To protect immunosuppressed patients, please do not bring / send flowers.

  2. Not all patients require the same kind of isolation. Staff and visitors may be asked to wear gloves, a gown and/or a mask.

  3. No Visitors: No visitors are allowed in isolation wards and BMT ward.
