The Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care is focused on providing safe anaesthesia which is a prerequisite for getting the best results from extensive and high risk surgery carried out to cure cancers. The department also focuses on high quality management of critically ill patients in ICUs.
Comprehensive preoperative assessment, patient optimization before anaesthesia and surgery, careful administration and monitoring of anaesthesia and high quality postoperative care go a long way in minimizing the risk of major surgery.

The Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care started when the hospital was commissioned in 1994. Over the years the department has been constantly upgrading its ability to monitor patients under anaesthesia, deliver postoperative care in surgical ICU and intensive care of critically ill patients in medical ICU. The Department is certified for implementing integrated quality and environment management system as per ISO 9001: 2000 and 14001:2004 standards.
The department is implementing NABH standard and ISO system, and is working towards CQI.
